First Time Facilitating an Adult Online Course

  • I should have entered information in the participation spreadsheet at the end of each week, but prior to sending the district report.  That way I could have included the group participation percentage, as well as the individual participation percentages, in the Weekly District Report.  Perhaps this would have encouraged the teachers to participate more.
  • I should have created a jing video showing how to post do a discussion.  I didn't realize until today (11/30) that a participant didn't understand what I meant when I said, "Do not create a new discussion. . . ."
  • Pay closer attention to participants.  I didn't realize that certain participants had turned in work for six straight weeks until I was doing the participation spreadsheet.  I know part of this is because some turned it in late.  However, this is a missed opportunity for encouragement.  A simple email to a participant during a missed week might have been just what they needed to get the work done.
